Attorney Peter A. Anderson was born in New London Connecticut on April 9, 1942. Attorney Anderson graduated from Yale University with a B.A. degree in 1964. He spent two years in the Peace Corps as an English teacher in the West African nation of Cameroon. In 1969 he received a Juris Doctor degree from Cornell University law school. Following law school he practiced law in Maine from 1969 until 1981. He served as a staff attorney and managing attorney of the Bangor office of Pine Tree Legal Assistance until 1973 when he went into private practice joining with another attorney to form the partnership of Zendzian & Anderson. In 1982 he received a Master of Law in taxation from the University of Denver College of Law.
Since 1982 he has practiced law as a sole practitioner from 1982 to 1985 in Mystic, Connecticut, as a partner with Copp, Berall, Willette, Bates & Carta in Groton, Connecticut from 1986 to 1990, with Brown, Jacobson, Tillinghast, Lahan & King in Groton and Norwich from 1990 to 1995 and with the Anderson Law Firm in Norwich, Connecticut from 1996 to the present. He concentrates his practice in the areas of estate planning and administration, real estate, elder law and tax law. In 1997 he was named an Accredited Estate Planner by the National Association of Estate Planners & Councils.
He is admitted to practice in the State of Maine and the Federal District Court of Maine, the State of Connecticut, the Federal District Court of Connecticut, The Second Circuit Court of Appeals, the U.S. Tax Court and the U.S. Court of Claims. He has argued cases before the Maine Supreme Court, the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.
He is a member of the American Bar Association, and its sections of Taxation and Real Property and Probate, the Connecticut Bar Association and its sections of Taxation, Probate and Estates and Elder Law and the Estate and Tax Planning Council of Eastern Connecticut. He has conducted seminars in estate and tax planning for numerous financial institutions and their customers.
